Police in Queensland are appealing for witnesses to a crash between a truck and motorcycle on the M1 yesterday to come forward.

The accident happened at Pimpama on Monday night when the vehicles collided in the far left hand lane, killing the 56-year-old bike rider.

“A number of vehicles were in the vicinity and police would like to hear from witnesses,” a statement from police says.

Anyone with information has been asked to call the Gold Coast Forensic Crash Unit on 07 5514 7880 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Meanwhile, police say the fatal crash at Stanthorpe yesterday happened when the utility swerved to miss an object on the road and collided with the truck.

The 62-year-old male driver and 42-year-old female passenger of the utility died at the scene.

Police are still reminding motorists to be cautious on the road due to wet weather causing flooding across Queensland. Motorists are being urged not to cross flooded roads and to be aware of currents during heavy rain/

“The current, both in waterways and water covering roads can be extremely strong and people and vehicles can be swept away in a[n] instant,” a police statement says.

“Remember that road conditions and road closures can change rapidly as creeks and water courses can rise and fall quickly.”

Police say motorists must adapt their driving to suit wet weather conditions and limit non-essential travel in areas experiencing heavy rainfall.
