A casual truck driver in the Tasmanian region of Devonport has been reimbursed $11,000 after he was underpaid the minimum hourly and penalty rates.

Fair Work Ombudsman inspectors investigated the driver’s employer who voluntarily rectified the underpayments after being notified of them.

Because of this, Fair Work Executive Director Michael Campbell says not further action will be taken. He says the Ombudsman aims to work with employers to rectify non-compliance issues.

However, employers need to regularly review their Award or agreement to ensure they are fully aware of their obligations to their workers," he says.

Meanwhile, a Victorian truck driver in Shepparton has been reimbursed $7600 after being underpaid the minimum hourly rate, annual leave, allowances and personal leave entitlements.
