Flood recovery grants extended

Primary producer and small business flood grants extended to further areas of Queensland

Primary producer and small business flood grants have been extended to further areas of Queensland to help communities recover from recent floods.

Primary Industries Minister Tim Mulherin says primary producers and small businesses in of Goondiwindi, Maranoa, Murweh and Blackall Tambo can now access grants of up to $25,000.

Mulherin says the decision takes the number of eligible local government areas to 27.

“The extent of this flooding is unprecedented and we want to help primary producers and regional Queensland get back up and running as soon as possible,” he syas.

“These funds will help with urgent fodder drops for stranded livestock, cleanup, removal of debris, repairing roads, fences and dams and other essential infrastructure.”

Mulherin says the grants will help primary producers and small businesses minimise their economic losses.

“Primary producers and small businesses may also be eligible for concessional (low interest) loans of up to $250,000. Primary producers can also access freight subsidies of up to $5000,” he says.

The $25,000 grants are now available in the shires of Balonne, Banana, Barcaldine, Blackall Tambo, Brisbane, Bundaberg, Central Highlands, Cherbourg, Fraser Coast, Gladstone, Goondiwindi, Gympie, Ipswich, Isaac, Lockyer Valley, Maranoa, Moreton Bay, North Burnett, Rockhampton, Scenic Rim, Somerset, South Burnett, Southern Downs, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Western Downs and Woorabinda.
