Asphalt works to improve Tonkin Highway in WA will start this month

February 3, 2011

Asphalt works to improve the section of Tonkin Highway between Corfield Street and Armadale Road in Western Australia will start this month.

Construction firm Downer EDI Works has been awarded the $3.8 million contract for the project, which will be completed in April.

“This contract includes the application of 60mm of asphalt between Corfield Street and Armadale Road,” Transport Minister Troy Buswell says.

“These works are necessary to meet environmental commitments such as the reduction of vehicle tyre noise. “

Buswell says the upgrade will also improve safety and efficiency for motorists.

Works will be carried out at night to minimise disruption to motorists, he says.
