Noise barriers on the way for Monash Freeway

Work has started on a $4.2 million upgrade of the Monash Freeway to install noise barriers

April 13, 2011

Shoulders and lanes on the Monash Freeway will be closed as part of a $4.2 million project to install noise barriers at Mount Waverley.

Work on the barriers between Huntingdale Road and Stanley Avenue has started and VicRoads expects it to be completed in October.

A VicRoads’ regional director, Duncan Elliot, says variable message signs will be erected to inform motorists of the closures, which will include the Huntingdale Road off-ramp.

“They (the barriers) will improve noise reduction along this section of the Monash Freeway in accordance with the noise reduction policy requirements,” Elliott says.

“Once complete the barriers will lessen the impact of noise from cars and freight vehicles for residents living adjacent to the freeway reserve at this location.”
