VTA hails IR workshop a success

Trucking operators urged to attend workshops to help them understand their industrial relations obligations

April 12, 2011

The Victorian Transport Association’s (VTA) regional workshop in Wodonga has received positive feedback from its attendees, CEO Philip Lovel says.

Members from more than 20 transport companies attended the event on April 6 to gain a better understanding of the modern awards system.

VTA industrial relations advisor Paul Ryan held the session.

“This seminar removed all the confusion about an employer’s obligations under the award and which award applies to which employees,” Ryan says.

All attendees received copies of the modern award handbooks prepared by the Australian Road Transport Industrial Organisation (ARTIO).

Another workshop will be held on Thursday at the VTA office in Melbourne. The last one will be held in Horsham on May 4.

“We encourage those who have missed this session and are able to do so to attend the Melbourne or Horsham workshop,” Lovel says.

Registration is essential. For more information contact the VTA on 03 9646 8590.
