Victoria Police is investigating a head on collision involving a semi-trailer milk tanker that killed two people.

The collision between the tanker and a utility occurred on the Strzlecki Highway between Thorpdale and Mirboo North yesterday afternoon.

The two vehicles caught fire. The truck driver was uninjured.

Emergency service crews have located the bodies of who they believe to be two men in the front of the heavily burnt ute.
