Traffic delays as CityLink undertakes maintenance

Lane closures and reduced speed limits to be imposed on CityLink network for scheduled maintenance

June 16, 2011

Victoria’s CityLink has embarked on a maintenance program that will see the replacement of asphalt along the entire Western Link corridor.

The re-asphalting program has been split into a number of smaller projects to minimise the disruption to drivers, CityLink says.

Asphalt needs to be replaced every 10 to 15 years as part of the general upkeep of roads. CityLink was opened in 1999.

The northbound carriageway of the Bolte Bridge and one of the entry ramps from the West Gate Freeway have already been completed and there are surfacing works currently underway inbound between Bell Street and Moreland Road.

There will be visible road works, lane closures and reduced speed limits on sections of the road between Bulla and the Bolte Bridge in the coming months.

Citylink says works are scheduled overnight or on the weekends to minimise congestion.
