The Victorian Government will gradually switch on 32 speed and red-light cameras across the state.

The government says eight will be turned on tomorrow in the wake of the findings earlier this year from the Auditor-General validating the road safety camera program.

Victorian Police Minister Peter Ryan says the cameras will be phased in on a weekly basis over the next few months.

The cameras to be switched on this week are in and around the state's capital. They are:

- St Kilda Road at Kings Way, Melbourne
- Nicholson Street at Princes Street, Carlton
- Dandenong Road at Warrigal Road, Malvern East
- Williamsons Road at Doncaster Road, Doncaster
- Cemetery Road West and Royal Parade, Parkville
- Springvale Road at Lower Dandenong Road, Braeside.
