Melham replaces Belacic at helm of NatRoad

Rural industry advocate to replace Bernie Belacic as NatRoad's CEO on November 28

November 16, 2011

A professional consultant with a background in the rural sector will take over the reins of NatRoad when incumbent CEO Bernie Belacic steps down on November 28.

NatRoad today announced Chris Melham as its new CEO. Melham currently leads Rural Advocacy, a specialist consultancy targeted at rural industry bodies and agribusiness companies. He has served stints at the NSW Farmers Association, the NSW Meat Industry Authority and the Australian Canegrowers Association.

NatRoad President Geoff Crouch says Melham’s more than 24 years of experience in the management of industry associations at various levels will help the lobby group grow and secure worthwhile reforms for the trucking industry.

Crouch also paid tribute to Belacic, who announced earlier this year he was leaving to pursue other opportunities.

“No-one should underestimate the contribution Bernie has made to the trucking industry in his tenure as CEO. He leaves a legacy of which he can rightfully be proud, a legacy that will provide a platform for continued benefits for our members,” Crouch says.
