The Northern Highway at Victoria’s Kilmore needs urgent attention, according to Victorian MP Lucinda McLeish.

She believes the Broadford-Kilmore Road intersection needs improvements following the death of a 21-year-old who collided with a truck in the area recently.

“Most Victorian families are touched by road trauma at some point,” McLeish says.

“I was saddened to learn that the communities of Kilmore and Wallan were impacted some four or five weeks ago by the loss of a young life. The devastation and distress imposed by such events in heartbreaking.

“My constituents have told me the intersection is dangerous and that there have been a lot of accidents in the area.”

VicRoads is now investigating the intersection, she says.

“I spoke publicly of my commitment to see if something could be done about that notorious intersection and I raised it with the minister’s office at the time. To me, it makes sense that this section of road be investigated for improvement opportunities as soon as possible,” she says.

“Given the growth in the Kilmore-Wallan area, there will be more people and cars on the roads, so it is with that in mind that I take this formal request of the minister to ensure this intersection gets the attention it deserves and the people in and around Kilmore and those passing through have safer roads.”
