VicRoads installs noise barriers on Monash

VicRoads has installed noise barriers along a section of the Monash Freeway to reduce the impact of noise from cars and trucks for residents.

VicRoads Regional Director Duncan Elliott says the $4.2 million project has replaced existing sections of noise barriers between Huntingdale Road and Stanley Avenue on the freeway.

The height of several sections of the noise barriers has been increased to ensure the levels meet the VicRoads Traffic Reduction Policy.

“Road traffic noise can be a significant environmental and community problem for residential areas,” Elliott says.

“With substantial population growth in the south eastern suburbs resulting in increased traffic volumes, VicRoads is committed to reducing the impact on local communities.

“The barriers will lessen the impact of noise from cars and freight vehicles for residents living adjacent to the freeway reserve at this location.”
