Delays on NSW highways as oversized truck hits the road

NSW motorists told to brace for delays when an oversized truck begins travelling on the state’s highways

December 2, 2011

NSW motorists are being told to brace for traffic delays from today when an oversized truck begins travelling from the coastal town of Coffs Harbour to Tenterfield.

The Roads and Maritime Services says the vehicle will leave Coffs Harbour at 10pm tonight, travelling six hours to Grafton. It will then leave Grafton on December 4 at 3am, arriving at Tenterfield at 11am.

The Roads and Maritime Services says the truck will be travelling on the Pacific, Gwydir and New England highways.

“The Gwydir Highway will be closed to all traffic east and westbound between the hours of 3am until 6am to allow the load to travel the Gibraltar range,” the department says in a statement.

“Traffic controllers will manage road closure points on the Gwydir Highway. Road users are asked to plan their travels outside of these times to avoid possible long delays.”
