Temporary closure of Cunningham Highway postponed

Temporary closure of Cunningham Highway at Cunningham's Gap postponed due to flooding on the route

January 17, 2012

The planned temporary closure of the Cunningham Highway south-west of Brisbane to allow an oversized load to travel on the route has been postponed.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads says flooding on a section of the highway between Goondiwindi and Warwick means the trip will be rescheduled.

The department planned to close the highway at Cunningham’s Gap at 9pm on January 18 until 1am on January 19.

“Further information will be provided as soon as new arrangements are made for the move,” the department says in a statement.

The closure would have been imposed between the Fisher Park Truck Stop at Maryvale on the western side of the Gap and Lake Moogerah Road at Mount Edwards on the eastern side.

A convoy was due to haul equipment bound for use in the Canadian nickel industry.
