CityLink vows to fix incorrect toll charges

CityLink in Melbourne is investigating incorrect travel toll charges that have affected interstate travellers.

CityLink Group General Manager Elizabeth Mildwater says CityLink is already refunding customers who have been incorrectly charged.

“The issue relates to licence plate numbers that exist in both Victoria and other states,” Mildwater says.

“We have found some instances where the automated system has charged the interstate vehicle instead of the Victorian one.

“We have already identified how this occurred and have stopped it from happening anymore.

CityLink is currently reversing the incorrect charges, and Mildwater says customers will not be left out of pocket.

“Many customers probably won’t even notice they have been affected,” she says.

“This issue does not affect motorists with Victorian number plates. We don’t require customers to contact us if they think they have been incorrectly charged because we’ve implemented a manual review process to reverse charges.”
