February 28, 2012

The Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Queensland (CVIAQ) has announced the launch of Australia’s first dedicated commercial vehicle engineering conference – ComVec – to
be held at the new Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) on June 5-6.

CEO Brett Wright
says ComVec builds on the successful CVIAQ Future Directions Seminars held in 2010 and 2011 and will provide the future direction of commercial vehicle innovation, technology, policy and standards for the industry.

“ComVec is also uniquely dedicated to the professional development of the industry, in particular those professionals engaged in the engineering and product development and planning of commercial vehicles and their components,” he says.

The two-day conference will feature specialist industry and government speakers selected on their ability to provide information on technology at the cutting edge as well as insights and direction on future developments of vehicle policy and standards.

Topics featured will include:

  • Australian vehicle standards
  • Heavy vehicle safety systems
  • UNECE vehicle standards
  • Advanced combination vehicles
  • Vehicle certification
  • Heavy vehicle telematics and electronics
  • Emission requirements and their effects
  • Energy use in future transport.

CVIAQ Business Development Manager Noelene Bradley says the event has been structured to allow delegates time to fly in and arrive at the venue for the start on the first day.

“The inaugural ComVec conference has all the ingredients required to stamp it as the most outstanding industry event of the year,” she adds.

The new BCEC on Grey Street provides car parking and is conveniently located alongside South Brisbane Railway Station and Cultural Centre Busway Station.

Regional and interstate visitors have a choice of first-class hotel accommodation and facilities within the South Bank precinct.

The conference is sponsored by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads
and Trader Business Media, publisher of Australasian Transport News, Deals on Wheels, Owner//Driver and SupplyChain Review.
