Oversized trucks will hit the road in NSW between February and March carting freight to Kooragang Island for Port Waratah Coal Services.

Trips have been scheduled from February 20 to March 7 for 15 trucks carrying large coal loading infrastructure components.

The vehicles will mostly travel from western Sydney, following the F3, John Renshaw Drive, the New England Highway, Maitland Road, Industrial Drive, Tourle Sreet, Cormorant Road, Egret Street and Raven Street.

A statement from Port Waratah Coal Services says the journeys will occur in the hours before dawn to avoid traffic disruptions. Police escorts will be used when necessary.

Port Waratah Coal Services says the infrastructure components are part of its long-term expansion programme and that additional truck movements are expected throughout the year.

It says many large pieces of infrastructure are trucked on a regular basis with the cooperation of police and other authorities to avoid traffic disruptions.
