A new southbound overtaking lane on the Bruce Highway north of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast is scheduled to open by the end of July.

Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Anthony Albanese says the new lane near Cabbage Tree Creek, north of Gin Gin, will lead to safer driving conditions for the 3000 motorists and 800 truck drivers using the route each day.

The overtaking lane will run for 1.2km and is part of a broader infrastructure spend on the highway. Albanese says the Federal Government is building 50 new overtaking lanes.

"While this project is underway and work teams are onsite, I would urge all drivers to slow down, obey the signs and follow the instructions of traffic controllers," he says.
