Lennons Transport Services driver Vincent Samuel George has been charged with three counts of manslaughter.

The 33-year-old was also charged with attempting to self-administer a prohibited drug and driving while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, at the Campbelltown Local Court in NSW this morning.

He also faced one count of negligent driving causing death and using a vehicle that did not comply with standard.

The manslaughter charges replace two charges of negligent driving causing death.

Police allege George was driving a B-double that crossed a median strip to the wrong side of the Pacific Highway near Menangle on January 25 before colliding with a car and killing three people.

They also allege the truck’s speed limiter
had been tampered with, allowing it to travel faster than the speed limit.

The incident sparked the Nsw South Wales trucking crackdown that has ensnared four companies.

Lennons Managing Director Tony Lennon has declined to comment.
