One lane on a section of the Dawson Highway reopens after diesel spill temporarily closed the route

May 15, 2012

One lane on a section of the Dawson Highway has reopened after diesel spill temporarily closed the route yesterday.

A truck and tanker collided about 4.30pm on May 14, causing diesel to spill for 2.5km along the highway near Biloela.

Police yesterday closed the highway to all vehicles about 20km east of Biloela due to the extent of the spillage.

Diversions were put in place for light vehicles but Queensland Police says it was not possible to divert trucks.

Queensland Police issued a notice just after 11am today advising the single lane has been opened to all vehicles between Calliope and Gladstone

The lane is under traffic control, and police have urged motorists to be patient and drive with caution

In a statement issued at 8.23am today, Queensland Police warned the highway could remain shut to trucks for at least 24 hours.

It says it believes no one was injured in the accident.
