Lights On The Hill’s memorial names missing

The Lights On The Hill committee is seeking help in recovering details of the missing names which were to be included at October's Memorial Day

June 13, 2012

The newly elected Lights On The Hill (LOTH) committee, which staged the 2012 Lights On The Hill convoy in February this year, has reported major difficulties in preparation for its next event, the annual Memorial Day on October 13 at Lake Apex Park, Gatton in south east Queensland.

According to the committee, critical details and records which relating to the plaques that are to be added to the wall on the Memorial Day, have disappeared.

While celebrating and remembering the lives of those whose names appear on the memorial wall, the annual service at the Lights on the Hill’s memorial in Apex Park at Gatton has traditionally been the time to unveil the name plaques for those who have been added to the wall in the previous 12 months. The committee says it is the details of those new names that are missing.

The LOTH Memorial committee, which was formed following the resignation of founder Kathy White late last year, says it is seeking the public’s assistance to ensure the many people who have applied and paid to have names added to the wall in time for this year’s Memorial Day do not miss out.

While an extension of time has been negotiated with the name plaque supplier, the committee says it needs to have this outstanding issue resolved by mid-July. Hence, it says early responses would be appreciated so they can ensure those names can be honoured in time for the Memorial Day in October.

The committee can be contacted through secretary Barbara Clarke on 07 5466 7192, vice president Glen Beutel on 0413 886 268, email lightsonthehill@live.com.au or through the post at PO Box 233, Laidley Qld 4341.
