June 21, 2012

NSW Police suspect a truck is responsible for a fatal hit and run of a motorcyclist in Sydney’s south yesterday.

A 58-year-old man was found lying on the road near his motorcycle at McKell Avenue in the Royal National Park at Waterfall suffering fatal injuries.

Officers discovered evidence of a truck being involved and were told a white medium sized truck with a flat rear tray was seen driving in the area shortly after the incident.

The man driving the truck was between 20 to 35 years of age and wearing a fluorescent high-visibility work shirt.

Officers hope a CCTV unit from nearby Waterfall Railway Station might show the vehicles travelling along McKell Avenue.

The motorcycle has been seized for forensic examination.

Police have not spoken to anyone who witnessed the actual collision and are appealing for the truck driver, or anyone who knows him, to come forward.

Anyone who can help is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
