New South Wales Police has appealed for the public to assist its investigation into a fatal truck crash near Sydney last week.

A semi-trailer carrying a shipping container rolled over at the intersection of the Cumberland and Hume Highways at Liverpool on June 28 about 10:45am.

A Toyota Camry being driven south along the Cumberland Highway was crushed beneath the overturned truck. The driver of the Camry, 33-year-old Manoj Masih from Ingleburn, died at the scene.

The truck driver, a 45-year-old man from Chester Hill, was not injured during the collision.

He was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests, before being interviewed by crash investigators and released pending further inquiries.

His truck and shipping container, which was laden with 22 tonnes of wood, have been seized for examination.

Any witnesses that haven’t yet spoken to police have been asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
