Police believe trucks, excavators deliberately torched

A fire police believe was deliberately lit has caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to excavators and trucks

An overnight fire in New South Wales has damaged several trucks and excavators being used to on the Hunter Expressway project.

Police estimate the damage to equipment in the state’s Hunter Valley to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Police and fire fighters were called to a construction site at Buchanan around 8.40pm yesterday and found two excavators alight.

They soon discovered a third excavator on fire. Trucks parked at the site were also damaged.

Police believe the fires have been deliberately lit and are appealing for witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
