A tow truck driver has been charged with stealing a car as part of a police investigation into vehicle thefts near Sydney.
New South Wales Police established Operation Snare to investigate a spate of car thefts in the Campsie area, which is about 25 minutes south-west of the state’s capital.
Police allege a tow truck driver attached a red Hyundai Elantra to his vehicle about 1.50pm on April 27 on Gould Street and drove away. He is accused of delivering the vehicle to an unknown person for $100.
A statement from New South Wales Police says the 24-year-old driver was arrested yesterday and charged with stealing a motor vehicle. He will appear in court on August 16.
