July 25, 2012

Several truck drivers who were travelling on the Hume Highway in Victoria have helped police catch a speeding motorist.

They were giving updates on the location of a sedan travelling at excessive speed between Chiltern and Springhurst.

Police were notified of the speeding driver around 5pm yesterday and shortly after had parked their vehicle on the side of the highway and waited to check the driver’s speed.

They were soon on the move again after a truck driver, using his radio, alerted them of the sedan travelling ahead of him.

The driver was clocked at 174km/h near Glenrowan Hill.

The 20-year-old from Roxburgh Park had his car impounded for 30 days and will be charged with speeding and other traffic offences.
