With only two weeks to go until the Australian Freight Industry Awards, 1,000 people have signed up to attend the annual event.
Victorian Transport Association (VTA) Executive Director Philip Lovel praised the industry for supporting the occasion, which is in its 23rd year.
Lovel says a variety of long-time members and new companies have signed up to attend the event.
“We have been amazed at the quality and number of nominations we have received to the revamped awards,” Lovel says.
“Although everyone is doing it tough and business is uncertain, we should celebrate our industry and the people in it.
“The awards are an opportunity to publicly recognise and honour those working in the industry [and] entering the awards is a powerful demonstration that shows your organisation values employees and their contributions.”
The awards will be held on September 1 at the Crown Palladium ballroom, with nominations open in categories such as safety, technology, business sustainability, investment in people, young achiever and the 2012 personality of the year awards.
