Renmark motorists in South Australia can travel safer and more efficient thanks to recent intersection upgrades on Renmark Avenue.

A new roundabout was built at the include a new roundabout at the intersection of Renmark Avenue and 18th Street, while the Renmark Avenue median and southbound carriageway at 21st Street was realigned. A new right turn lane was also installed in the Renmark Avenue median north of 23rd Street.

The works are expected to improve traffic flow and reduce crashes.

“By upgrading these intersections the federal and South Australian Labor governments are planning ahead to avoid congestion affecting productivity,” South Australian Senator Anne McEwen says.

Around 14,000 vehicles are expected to use the section by 2030, including 800 commercial vehicles.

Twenty-four crashes were recorded in the area in the past four years, leaving seven people injured and one dead.

The $5.46 million project was jointly funded by the federal and South Australian governments.
