Victorian roads department VicRoads will spend the next two years reviewing its structure following the axing of 450 jobs.

It is currently working on a detailed document called Our Plan Our Future to ensure the organisation remains a leader in service delivery, engineering and road safety, VicRoads Chief Operating Officer Bruce Gidley says.

The Victorian Government announced in December it would reduce public service positions over a two-year period.

“Like other government departments and statutory authorities, VicRoads has to identify where and how it can meet the targets set for it,” Gidley says.

“The focus will be on removing duplication and streaming processes in back office roles, like say financial processing and reporting,” he adds.

“The changes will eliminate the double handling of purchase orders and standardise reporting processes.”

VicRoads did not reveal whether the structure will affect the delivery of projects.
