November 8, 2012

The widening of Northbridge tunnel and Mitchell Freeway in Perth to address congestion issues has started.

The $57 million project will create an alternative route for the east-west CBD traffic, including merging arrangements and northbound capacity on the freeway.

The exit arrangement at Vincent Street from the freeway will also be improved.

Drivers using the tunnel in both directions and the freeway can expect delays during the works as reduced speed limits and occasional lane closures will take place.

The works are expected to be completed by April 2013.
