Intersection upgrades on the Newell Highway and Oxford Street in Forbes, NSW, will soon take place.

The NSW Government has set aside $400,000 under the Principal Transport Routes Network Efficiency program to improve safety for all vehicles.

Turning lanes for both directions will be implemented, including the relocation of two light poles.

Work will take place from 7am and 6pm on weekdays and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, with the speed limit reduced to 40kmh.

The project is expected to be completed before Christmas.

Drivers are advised to plan their journey and allow extra travel time.
