Competition opens for Trucking Australia 2013

Cummins offers free tickets with winner decided on best description of what ideas would be brought and how the experience would be used to improve the industry

December 14, 2012

A chance to attend the Australian Trucking Association’s (ATA) new national event has opened up, with Cummins South Pacific giving away three trips to Hamilton Island where the event will be held.

Winners will attend Trucking Australia 2013 on June 21 and 22 and can bring along a guest to the ATA’s Foundation Sponsors Awards dinner, Kenworth Legends luncheon and BPW barbecue, the ATA says.

The competition is open to all national trucking operators and their employees.

To enter, you need to tell ATA in 100 words or less what you would bring to the table and how you would use the experience to improve the industry.

Cummins Automotive Sales and Customer Service Manager Col Baker says the event will allow operators to have their say about issues and use their experience to drive policy direction.

“Cummins realises that to make our industry the best it can be, we need to hear from people at the coalface,” Baker says.

“That’s why we’re giving three operators the opportunity to attend this event as Cummins hosted delegates.”

The sessions include building a new safety action plan for the industry, planning the way forward on the carbon tax and road charges and discussing staff shortage and recruitment of women and younger drivers.

Winners will be announced in ATA’s Friday Facts newsletters.

The first entry round closes on January 21.
