New resources to help with fitness for duty assessments

New forms online to help operators with fitness for duty assessments for truck drivers

December 6, 2012

Trucking operators can now access new forms online to assist them with fitness for duty assessments for truck drivers.

Austroads has uploaded the forms to its website, and the resources can be used by operators accredited in the TruckSafe and National Heavy Vehicle Assessment Scheme (NHVAS).

Developed by the National Transport Commission, the three forms went through a consultation process with industry stakeholders to comply with the guidelines set out in the latest edition of Assessing Fitness to Drive.

Companies can also make their own modifications to fit in with their requirements.

The forms range from a health questionnaire to a clinical assessment record and a fitness to drive report.

"These forms have been developed to support the conduct of health assessments for fitness for duty for commercial vehicle drivers," Austroads says on its website.

"They are intended to facilitate assessments required for schemes such as TruckSafe and NHVAS Fatigue Management Accreditation, as distinct from driver licensing."
