Black re-elected as ATA owner-driver representative

Frank Black returns to represent owner-drivers on the ATA’s general council for another two years

Frank Black has been re-elected as the Australian Trucking Association’s (ATA) owner-driver representative for another two years.

Black defeated fellow owner-driver Allan Clark for the position on the ATA’s general council.

The Transport Workers Union (TWU), of which Black is a member of, says the victory is good news for everyone who drives a truck for a living.

“Frank Black has been a tireless advocate for owner-drivers and for all truckies across Australia,” TWU National Secretary Tony Sheldon says.

“The TWU will continue to work beside Frank to improve the lives of owner-drivers and all truck drivers across Australia.”

Sheldon says Black has been instrumental in showing politicians, the wider community and the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal what life is like behind the wheel of a truck and the financial and deadline pressures drivers face.

“Over many years I campaigned for safe rates side by side with Frank and countless others. This culminated in the historical passage of safe rates legislation one year ago, which is one of the single most significant developments for the road transport industry in decades,” Sheldon says.
