Police to target fatigued drivers

South Australia Police to focus on fatigue, drink driving and drug driving this weekend

March 7, 2013

South Australia Police will be out in force during the Adelaide Cup long weekend targeting fatigued and drunk drivers.

Superintendent Bob Fauser says driving fatigued is as dangerous as drink driving.

"Drivers should expect to be stopped for alcohol and drug testing and we’ll be watching for people failing to wear seat belts and speeding," Fauser says.

"While rest stops, eating regularly and drinking water help concentration when driving, extended periods without quality sleep will lead to fatigue, which is a killer on our roads."
