Well-known industry representatives Geoff Crouch and Tim Knowles have joined the Australian Trucking Association’s (ATA) board.

Crouch, who runs Ron Crouch Transport and is the president of NatRoad, and Knowles, who operates Speedie Contractors out of Brisbane, were elected at the ATA’s annual general meeting today.

Crouch runs a fleet of 30 trucks and 47 trailers, while Knowles operates 32 trucks and has been a board member of the Queensland Trucking Association for 15 years.

Knowles says he will use his position on the ATA board to focus on making sure the organisation has the resources to represent the interests of medium-sized trucking businesses.

“As an industry representative, my particular interests are registration charges and vehicle standards, and especially electronic braking systems,” he says.

Also at the meeting, Kathy Williams was re-elected unopposed as the ATA’s Secretary/Treasurer. ATA Chairman David Simon was re-elected to the board unopposed, as were Doug McMillan and Noelene Watson.
