Seven trucks were set alight when a fire swept through Piscioneri Packaging and Transport Services in Victoria over the weekend.

Three prime movers were completely destroyed and four refrigerated trailers were damaged during a blaze at Koorlong that is expected to leave a damage bill of close to $1 million.

Mildura Crime Investigation Unit Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Luke Simons says the fire is being treated as suspicious.

Emergency services were called to the Dow Avenue depot around 5am on Sunday.

It took three Country Fire Authority (CFA) units to bring the fire under control, Simons says.

“It was an intense fire but they managed to get it under control fairly quickly and there was no other damage to the facility, just the vehicles,” he says.

“The operators are disappointed, upset and stressed because of the damage to their trucks and disruption to their service.

“There are a number of lines of inquiry we’re following up. The arson chemist was there yesterday and we’re waiting for results.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

ATN is awaiting response from Piscioneri Transport.
