WA allows truckies to book driving tests online

Transport minister announces new online booking system for truck driving tests

June 21, 2013

Truck drivers in Western Australia can now head online to book driving tests for light, medium and heavy rigid trucks.

State Transport Minister Troy Buswell says learner drivers and instructors will be able to book tests 48 hours to six months in advance.

The online booking system is expected to decrease waiting times, and Buswell says allowing a timeframe of up to six months will allow learner drivers to concentrate on preparing for their test instead of worrying about when they will get a booking.

“The Department of Transport is now giving new drivers the option to book practical driving assessments (PDA) online and avoid the sometimes lengthy waiting times on the phone,” Buswell says.

“It’s a real-time system and new assessment times instantly become available as other people change their bookings, giving learner drivers peace of mind they will be able to access a test when they need one.”

Online bookings can also be made for cars, mopeds and motorcycles.

“The system has already proved successful with driving instructors involved in testing. It puts customers in control – with more choice, more convenient access to services and better use of modern technology,” Buswell says.

He says people unable to book a test online can still visit a Department of Transport centre or call 13 11 56 to make a booking.
