There is global interest in Melbourne’s East West Link, with construction and finance companies expressing a desire to construct the first stage of the project.

Several local and international associations have submitted expressions of interest to build and operate the project, with a shortlist to be made by the Victorian Government in October.

The project is worth around $8 billion, and the Government says it will reduce traffic congestion and travel times.

Some 3,200 jobs will be created during the construction.

Companies will be evaluated on six criteria, including design, innovation, construction capability and experience.
