August 13, 2013

Industry stakeholders wanting to be involved in hearings this week on a draft remuneration order have until today to advise the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal (RSRT).

The tribunal yesterday began hearings, which will run until August 16, to listen to industry concerns on the draft order released last month.

The order proposes new conditions on trucking operators and the supply chain, and covers contracts, safe driving plans, payments and training and drug and alcohol policies.

In a statement, the tribunal says any person or body wanting to make submissions or comments during the hearings need to advise RSRT President Jennifer Acton by by email by 12pm, unless they made an appearance at the first day of the hearings yesterday.

The RSRT has a number of submissions to wade through, with a bevy of industry groups, representative associations, trucking companies and owner-drivers lodging responses to the draft order.
