Restrictions will be imposed on wide loads using the Warrego Highway from Jondaryan to Dalby in Queensland from September 16 due to road works.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads says a final layer of asphalt will be applied to the section of the highway from September 16 to November 15, weather permitting.

It says heavy vehicles with an overall width greater than 5m will only be permitted to use the section of highway between 5pm Saturdays and 5pm Sundays.

Operators with vehicles that have a ground contact width greater than 3.6m or an overall width between 3.6m and 5m need to contact the department at least 48 hours prior to travelling to determine when the vehicle will be permitted through the roadworks.

“These works involve the application of the final asphalt surface layer on this section of road. This process requires a longer period of time to cool before it is opened to traffic to ensure the smoothest and most durable surface for completed works,” Transport and Main Roads says.

It says the works, which are part of the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements, will be carried out 24 hours a day, six days a week.

Those wishing to gain permission to pass through the roadworks need to contact Transport and Main Roads on 1800 733 037.
