Inspectors from the Fair Work Ombudsman to discuss workplace rights and responsibilities in Townsville next week

August 6, 2013

Inspectors from the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) will appear in Townsville next week to provide information on workplace rights and responsibilities.

Inspectors will operate an information booth at the Townsville Careers Expo on August 12 between 10am and 1.30pm and then from 4pm to 7pm at the Townsville RSL Stadium. Entry is free.

The FWO says information on a range of topics including wages, flexible work arrangements, leave entitlements, workplace discrimination, hours of work and other entitlements will be available.

Inspectors will make another appearance on August 13, this time at the Townsville Chamber of Commerce between 8.30am and 9.30am, to discuss workplace rights and obligations with employers.

It says businesses wishing to chat to an inspector need to make an appointment by calling (07) 4771 2729. There is no charge for appointments.

FWO inspector Jeff Tillitzki says the Townsville visit aims to raise awareness among employers and employees of national workplace laws.
