Volvo's Knaben heading for Europe

President of Volvo Group Australia to take MD post at Managing Director of Volvo Trucks UK and Ireland

August 14, 2013

Arne Knaben, President of Volvo Group Australia (VGA), has been appointed Managing Director of Volvo Trucks UK and Ireland.

Knaben’s new role was decided late yesterday as the current Volvo Trucks MD, Ulf Magnusson, heads back to Sweden to take up his new position as Senior Vice President Volvo Buses, Business Region Europe.

Knaben has been at the helm of VGA since late 2009, and in the last few months Knaben has overseen the local development and manufacture of the new heavy duty FH platform for the Australian market.

Australia is the first market outside of Europe to launch new vehicle.

A self-confessed lover of machinery both old and new, Knaben started out his career as a mechanic and also as a truck driver in his native Norway.

He has been with Volvo Group since 1992 and has held various overseas sales and management roles in Sweden, India and Denmark. Knaben is slated to take up his new role, based at Volvo Group’s UK headquarters in Warwick, on October 1.

No announcement has yet been made regarding Knaben’s replacement at VGA.
