The tender for the second stage of the Pimlico to Teven Pacific Highway upgrade has been awarded

The second stage of the Pimlico to Teven Pacific Highway in New South Wales upgrade is set to begin, with the contract for the work being awarded to Leighton Contractors.
Stage two of the project is located just south of the newly built Ballina bypass and is designed to improve safety and travel times.
“The upgrade includes building 2km of new road on the Pacific Highway and about 1.3km of new road on the Bruxner Highway,” Infrastructure Minister Warren Truss says.
The second stage also includes building bridges over Duck and Emigrant creeks.
“The Pimlico to Teven upgrade is part of the $564.6 million of planning and preconstruction works being undertaken between Woolgoolga and Ballina,” Truss says.
Stage one of the project involved stabilising soil, and federal MP for Page Kevin Hogan says the third stage will involve building the southbound lanes along the existing highway route.
The project is being delivered in three stages due to complex traffic arrangements between the Pacific and Bruxner highways.
“At the end of August there were 368km of four-lane divided road completed, about 76km of road was being built and the remaining sections were being prepared for major work,” NSW Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Roads Stuart Ayres says.
“About 56 per cent of the final highway length is now a four-lane divided road.”
