Restrictions will be imposed on wide loads using the Forrest Highway and Old Coast Road in Western Australia

September 27, 2013

Restrictions will be imposed on wide loads using the Forrest Highway and Old Coast Road in Western Australia between December 18 and January 4.

Vehicles exceeding 2.7m in width or 30m in length will not be permitted to travel on those roads between the intersections of Pinjarra Road and Peppermint Grove Road in Perth.

Those longer than 4.5m will also be banned on the Albany, Brand, Eyre, Great Eastern, South Western (Armadale to Bunbury) and Great Northern highways (Roe Highway to Mt Magnet) from December 23 to 27.

Vehicles longer than 5.5m in width that require a traffic escort warden will not be able to travel on those highways from late December 19.

"Operators are to ensure they plan their movements with sufficient time margins to accommodate for any unforeseen delays, as traffic escort services will not allow oversize vehicles to proceed beyond this curfew time," Main Roads Western Australia Heavy Vehicle Operations Director Pascal Felix says.

"Night movements within the Pilbara region will be assessed on a case by case basis during the curfew period."
