RMS issues reminder on closure of Hornsby station

The heavy vehicle inspection station on the Pacific Highway will close a week from now and remain closed until 2014

October 1, 2013

The New South Wales Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is reminding truck drivers the heavy vehicle inspection on the Pacific Highway will close a week from now.

The station near Bridge Street will close on October 8 and will not reopen until January 2014 to allow for a series of upgrades to be completed.

The closure means drivers will be diverted to alternative sites at Silverwater, Botany, Penrith, Wetherill Park and West Gosford, which may add up to an hour to travel time.

RMS is offering four extra inspection appointments per day at Hornsby until the closure.

The upgrade to the station includes lengthening its structure and installing roller doors at either end. Access to the site will also be levelled to improve the entry and exit for customers.

A shelter will be built for inspectors. The work is due to take place later this year.
