Fuso Geelong launches safety and compliance app

Echeck provides an electronic vehicle checklist that operators can fill out via their smartphone or tablet

December 2, 2013

Fuso Geelong Dealer Principal Richard Furnari has developed a new app for Fuso owners which he says will save customers on their compliance costs, as well as making maintenance monitoring easier.

“We’re launching a program here called Your Safety Our Future and it’s about highlighting the laws that are in place to with workplace safety around machinery and equipment,” Furnari says.

“Echeck is about providing an electronic way to check and record your equipment and be proactive around workplace safety.”

Echeck provides an electronic vehicle checklist that operators can fill out via their smartphone or tablet.

The app can keep track of daily pre-shift checks which helps ensure compliance and also provides a digital record of checks, fault reporting and maintenance history.

The app takes care of fault reporting by automatically emailing the appropriate supervisor or even the local service agent.

Furnari says that, to his knowledge,
Fuso Geelong is
the first of the manufacturers’ dealers to develop this sort of technology to date.

According to Furnari, another bonus is the ability to load the app with training videos that can be vehicle specific or company specific in an effort to ensure specific OH&S requirements have been met.

The app has the ability to provide back to base reporting, GPS locating and can send email alerts if daily checks aren’t carried out.

Furnari continues: “I see this as a useful tool for hire fleets to keep track of equipment usage as well as a training tool.”

Echeck is fully customisable and can be accessed by any device with an internet connection. The app is being offered free for 12 months on any new Fuso truck sold, Echeck costs $36 per year, per vehicle.

At this stage, Furnari is selling the app to Fuso customers only, but he does concede that Echeck can be used on other brands and that this may happen at some stage in the future.

According to Furnari, he would like to both Fuso as a manufacturer and himself as a dealer as being a provider of efficiencies and solutions for industry.

Fuso Geelong has seen substantial growth since the Breakwater site opened in early 2013.

Sales to date have exceeded forecasts by more than four times the initial predicted number of 40 units.

In October this year, the business took out number one spot in Fuso sales nationally.
