VTA to offer practical advice briefing on January 30 ahead of the NHVR's official operational start
The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) is hosting a National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) implementation briefing in Port Melbourne on January 30.
Senior NHVR managers are to cover a range of NHVR-related topics including what’s changing in Chain of Responsibility and fatigue management, and on-road compliance and enforcement.
“Not too many weeks’ ago, the NHVR led a series of briefing sessions around the nation, including in Melbourne and Albury-Wodonga,” VTA CEO Neil Chambers says.
“Despite these sessions, it is our view that the road transport industry needs more practical advice and guidance from the NHVR on processes that will commence from the ‘go-live’ date of February 10.
“One of the most important changes is the central processing of all Heavy Vehicle Permit applications in the participating States of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.
“The briefing session will be a critical opportunity for senior NHVR staff to provide practical guidance to attendees about the use of the new on-line Access Management System (AMS) and its associated NHVR Journey Planner.
“The shear fact that the VTA has received over 100 registrations for the briefing from industry and other government agencies in two days demonstrates the appetite for information to be provided.”
There will also be a presentation will be given on award amendments and the new Road Safety Remuneration Order.
