Director Series a mural masterpiece

R & K Bulk Logistics’s Kenworth Directors Series T909 is a stunner, and Simon Webb is its lucky driver.

R & K Bulk Logistics’s Kenworth T909 is almost all black, apart from the striking murals adorning the prime mover.

The Moore Trailers-built tippers have been painted to match the Director Series Kenworth’s colour scheme as well.

“She is a beautiful truck,” driver Simon Webb says.

“This one is absolutely gorgeous, although it’s a bit of a pain to keep the big jigger clean, being the colour it is and the paint work that’s on it.

“But I’ve accepted the challenge, bloody oath. I am very glad to be the driver.”

While Simon’s 909, number 42 in the Director Series, wouldn’t look out of place at any truck show, its home is in outback Australia, running the road train routes.

The Kenworth was purchased through Brown & Hurley’s Toowoomba branch, while the murals were hand painted by PJ’s Custom Spraypainting in Rocklea. Highway Lights took care of the lighting and stainless work.

“It’s absolutely incredible. The blokes are just unreal with what they can do with a spray brush. As far as I am aware, it took two to three weeks to do the painting,” Simon says.

The truck has a Cummins E5 SCR Simon can’t fault it. He says, unlike EGR engines, the Cummins SCR runs cool and puts out 600hp (447.4kW).

Simon is also impressed with how well the Kenworth rides. It has parabolic springs on the steer and a heavy set of Neway air bag suspension on the rear, the truck is a 130 tonne-rated rig.

R & K Bulk Logistics specialise in bulk haulage, grains, fertiliser and stock feed. Their trucks can mainly be found in dusty paddocks loading grain or tipping off in production facilities.
