New truck sales down in November as momentum falters

Overall year-to-date tally also down, but some good news for Scania and Isuzu

Truck sales in November this year were down on the previous month, and the year-to-date (YTD) tally is also down.

That’s the overall picture from the latest T-Mark truck sales data, provided by the Truck Industry Council (TIC).

Sales of trucks and vans above 3.5 tonnes in November were 2,605, which is well down on October’s score of 2,884.

The YTD total is running at 27,800, compared with 27,979 at the same time last year.

However, sales are 60 up for the month of November 2014 compared with November 2013’s figure of around 2,540.

In terms of brands, the standout performer in November was Scania.

The Swedish truck maker rose in the YTD pecking order from 12th to 10th, with 102 sales in November against 46 in October.

Its YTD figure of 653 is also much better than the November 2013 YTD of 573.

Market leader Isuzu’s YTD sales of 6,571 are also well up on 6,239 for the same time last year.
